If you’re a regular visitor here on the Pasty Cam, you know that Beth Jukuri is an adventurer no matter the season, she gets out for walks, hikes, bike rides, snowshoeing, Hok skiing, she just loves getting moving in the outdoors. Recently she invited a few friends to join her for a nice walk in the woods at the Maasto Hiihto Trail System in Hancock. Sure looks like some nice trails and sites along the trails, too, especially those “pussy-willows” in that last photo, a sure sign of Spring. Get out there and enjoy walks and hikes like this before the bugs arrive!

Are you missing fresh caught, golden fried Lake Superior Whitefish? If so, mark your calendar for Thursday, May 21st. Spring flowers aren’t the only thing opening up, Four Suns Restaurant is opening this Thursday, May 21st with limited hours of 11 a.m to 7 p.m., Thursday thru Saturday. They will have a limited menu for the early opening and then will open with their full days and hours, along with their full menu, sometime in June. In the meantime, while you’re waiting for Thursday to arrive, dive into the Peterson family story in today’s video short.

Awesome....go have fun!!!

Cool video...I remember when my nephew got married,
one of the Peterson's sons stood in the wedding,
and brought smoked Whitefish....there is none
better!!!

Looks like the ladies had a wonderful hike!
It’s really cool to walk the woods before
the leaves are out. You can see so much
detail in the terrain that’s often obscured by
vegetation (or snow)! And of course any
wildflowers, wildlife or waterfalls spotted
along the way are a nice bonus too!

Hi
The ladies are hiking on the ski trails, yes? I have
done that with no problem but sometimes it doesn't
work well to ski on a hiking trail. For instance if
there's a right-angle turn at the bottom of the hill
and a big tree straight in front of you---no issue
for a hiker, but you can see the skiier's problem.

I didn't see wildflowers in the photos but I'm sure
they'll appear soon.

Dang, I'd like some golden fried Lake Superior
Whitefish for supper!

I remember back in the sixties when we would go up to the lodge, we
would stop at a fish store in Munising and buy some white fish. When it
was ready, we all turned into cats.

We've been walking the tracks turned into trails up
behind our house in Lake Linden. Sure feels good to
free and to get out there. There was a lot of water
before the rain last night and today it was even
worse. But it's a good place to walk.

Nice pictures, Beth.

Very nice pictures and good-looking trails!! Nice
to see a story or two on Peterson's fish market
and restaurant. Whenever we're dining out and I
order fish, all Vic has to say is, "how does it
compare" and I know she's talking about Peterson's
and of course it's not as good. There are plenty
of great places for fish in the Yoop and other
places... but for me.... Peterson's or Four Sons
will always be the best!! Another reason, I can't
wait to get U.P. to the Keweenaw!! To quote MS
DONNA- "WHOLY WHAAA":=)) IT'S THE BEST!!

They sure do get out and about. Keep it up gals. Stay safe.

It looks like not a lot of engineering went into the rock path nor the board walk.

Peterson's Fish Market and Four Suns Restaurant are fantastic. I prefer Lake Trout to Whitefish, so when I can't cook, I'm dinning out at a few different restaurants that carry it. It can be hard to find some times.

I'm sure some of you remember the episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern where he showcased the Keweenaw & UP. One segment was at Peterson's. He even went fishing. Travel Channel I think

You're right Cindy. Warm Spring before leaf-out is great.

We're at Peterson's right now. They still have a
limited menu but I'm waiting anxiously for my Lake
Superior Whitefish.

What, no picture of your plate?

I let Mary post the pictures here, lol.
