When it comes to finding waterfalls around the U.P., Michelle Lutke and Brett Biggers have the knack and know-how. They’re taking us to a waterfall today, that Michelle says is ‘off the beaten path’ and that’s what makes it so much fun. This is the Nelson Canyon Falls, located on Nelson Creek in the Ottawa National Forest in the western U.P. near Lake Gogebic, south of Bergland. It requires a moderate hike, often with no clear trail, reached via a two-track path and an approximate 20 - 30 minute hike, making this waterfall a lesser-known adventurous destination. Of course, spring is probably the best time for high water flow and possibly less bugs to annoy you. You can find more information and directions on this link: Western U.P. Waterfalls

While exploring various waterfalls recently, Michelle and Brett walked up on a beaver playing in a waterfall. How fun to watch him having a blast in the water there! If you’d like to see more of Michelle and Brett’s adventures, check out their webpage here: Wandering Michigan

These are really beautiful pictures. My favorite is
the first one because I love looking up at trees
and sky. But I absolutely love them all.

Hi
Great pictures, well composed. My favorite is the one
called "Several Cascades". For whatever it's worth, my
grandpa was named Nelson.

I don't know that the beaver was playing. Slapping the
tail is an alarm call, and the cries it gave didn't
seem happy (though I don't know). My take is that it
found the waterfall an obstacle to the direction it
wanted to go. Again, I can't say for sure.
