Shannon over at 906 Images is experienced at capturing Lake Superior sunrise scenes and such in the Marquette area, but he’s outdone himself with today’s photos combining the freighter and the sunrise. That’s the 690 foot Herbert C. Jackson at the Ore Dock, framed by the beauty of a glowing sunrise at Marquette Harbor in the first photo and then the 806 foot M/V Honorable James L. Oberstar in the third shot. Both freighters were waiting to fill their boats with iron ore to transport. Stunning shots all three!
Then to top it all off, Shannon shares a video of what he describes as one of the most beautiful sunrises he has ever seen on Lake Superior. An exquisite example of fire and ice!

Hi Kudos to Shannon, these are beautifully composed. The sunrise Herbert C. Jackson is good, but the James L. Oberstar is a great shot, the way the smoke curls forward and the colors of the ship, dock and water. I also like the video.
