Laurie Bashaw recently had a perfect morning for a walk along the Marquette Harbor lakeshore. Beautiful sunshine, with blue in the sky and reflections in the water, along with some remaining ice and small ice bergs floating in the calm waters of Lake Superior. The other bonus of this day was that there was no wind. That always makes a difference in the temperature, too. Laurie said besides the freighter in her photo, there were two others around, but she didn’t get pictures of them. I’m not positive, but I think this one is the MV American Mariner, part of the American Steamship Company Fleet.

We have some ‘not so calm’ waters in today’s video from Mike MacIntosh, of the Escanaba River Dam #1. That’s some wild water raging there from the melting snow. Pretty amazing power in the plume of water towards the middle of the river there.

In case you missed it on yesterday's page, as I posted this later in the day...
Uncle Chuck asked me to let you all know that any word of his demise, has been greatly exaggerated! LOL
Actually he's home and doing pretty well. He said he thinks he's turned the corner... getting his appetite back, exercising and feeling pretty darn good.

So nice to see that happening. Hopefully it won't
be long now. Nice to see a freighter there.

UC, glad to see you're on the mend.

Wow my eyes are getting bad. I could have sworn
when I checked out today's page Uncle Chuck was
holding a very different kind of pet.

The power of water...It's gonna win! Awesome pics.
I'm stuck inside almost all the time, and it seems
like the snow just went.

U.C...So glad you are recovering...good stuff!

Hi
I just got back from a trip to the Kalamazoo Nature
Center. One of the trails ends in a boardwalk near the
Kalamazoo River. The speed of the water was dizzying.

Closer to the UP, I heard the Cheboygan dam situation
is improving since they re-started the hydroelectric
part.

UC, glad to hear you are feeling better.

U.C.
Very glad to see you're doing much better.

Is that Arnold Ziffel?
Is he just visiting?
