Linda Griffin made a stop at Canyon Falls to see if the water is flowing there yet and today’s photos are what she found. Plenty of water rushing over the falls and down the Sturgeon River through the gorge walls that give Canyon Falls the nickname “Grand Canyon of Michigan”. Linda’s second photo shows that there was still plenty of snow and ice, but with the warmer temps we’ve had this week, much of that may have melted by now. Located in Baraga County, about 15 miles south of L’Anse, it’s a nice stop to stretch your legs or as a destination it’s not too far for a day trip from the Keweenaw.

The third photo is one that Donna MacIntosh snagged off the Michigan Tech Webcams the beginning of the week, showing a good sign that spring is here, when the tree trunks are showing all the way down to the ground. If you check out the webcams today, though, much more snow has melted in just a few days.

Linda recorded a quick video at the Falls, too. Nice to hear the sound of that rushing water and get a look further down river. Even with the snow still there, it sounds like Spring!!

So good to see!
They’re will be blue skies,
green trees and open blue
water to come.

Awesome..."they" say the falls this year will be
spectacular.

Checking the Webcams today, there's no snow in that
area, the College Ave view shows a lot of snow
gone. What's there is black...the gross time of
year. We will get more snow..there's an old Finnish
saying that means "The new snow is the death of the
old snow"...we have to get clean stuff to eliminate
the old stuff! It's coming!

These pictures are gorgeous. I just love Canyon
Falls. Never been there this time of year, though.

Hi
I'm happy for you, DebS, Donna & Mary. Downstate we've
had flooding issues. But that too will pass.

Uncle Chuck asked me to let you all know that any word of his demise, has been greatly exaggerated! LOL
Actually he's home and doing pretty well. He said he thinks he has turned the corner and is getting his appetite back, exercising and feeling pretty darn good.

Uncle Chuck

Hi
Glad to hear about Uncle Chuck! He's probably had
enough other stuff to think about rather than posting
comments.

I just looked at a snow cover map, and the Keweenaw is
the only place with snow of any depth. If you need a
change, you only have to reach the western UP to see
bare ground.
