Michelle Lutke was out adventuring again and we get to tag along as they check out some spring waterfalling destinations in the Black River Scenic Byway area in Ironwood. Michelle said the waterfalls here are some of the most impressive in the Western U.P., especially when the spring thaw is on. They hiked to the Rainbow Falls along the North Country Trail on the east side of the river and found the falls absolutely gushing and rushing, what a beautiful sight! Michelle commented that this is early spring thaw and it will only get better as more and more snow begins to melt. You can see more of Michelle’s adventures and photos by clicking over to their webpage here: Wandering Michigan
The video Michelle recorded of the falls is amazing, showing the power of the water as it rushes over the falls. Make sure you have your speakers on for this one, the sound is almost deafening as the water rages on its way.

Hi Spring comes to the UP. The photo of Black River harbor is serene, with soft colors. In contrast, the photo titled "rainbow Falls" is bright and lively.

Holy wha....GLORIOUS photos! You can almost feel the power in that video.
Falls are supposed to be epic this Spring!
I was chatting with a gent that just was out in Idaho, he said all the way back here, was green...except in the U.P. He said it is super dry that way, and to expect a huge drought this year. Hopefully, we don't get more wild fires! It would be nice to breathe outside this year!!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love that area and I love those waterfalls. We've only gone once but we really enjoyed the hiking and the waterfalls. I highly recommend it.
