There is beauty to behold, even when winter weather is still frosting everything when the calendar says it should be Spring! Judy Byykkonen recently found some of that beauty on a frosty morning while out walking her dogs. Her “girls” don’t care if the weather is chilly or frosty, she still has to bundle up and get them outdoors for a walk. The frost, heavy on the branches, bows them down in some cases and in other spots it just sits thickly on them, turning the tree white. We just have to remember to enjoy the beauty around us and know that this too shall pass and before we know it, leaves will be sprouting turning the trees green again. A girl can hope, right?

Since we’re still getting some winter weather, let’s check in with Yooper Steve for a U.P. Winter Weather History report from March 5th. Yooper Steve has been an NWS Co-op Weather Observer, measuring snow since 2011. This is his Yooper Snow Chronicles, Episode 6. As of this morning - according to the Pasty Central Snow Thermometer page - snowfall is 312.75" for the winter, and still accumulating.

I love that Judy gets out there to capture what's
going on during every season. Thick with frost is
my favorite today. I love when trees look that way
after a storm. Speaking of which, I'm sitting here
watching the snow come down, while listening to the
wind howl during our latest adventure. Only in the
UP, right? The calendar says it's spring but Mother
Nature says otherwise. You can never count us out
around St Patrick's Day. Happy weekend pasty
friends.

Hi
Judy is a good dog owner to take her pals out. I know
my family dog loved her walks.

Down here in Jackson the weather is very changeable
today. So far we've had light snow that didn't stick,
and a mix of blue sky & clouds with a high wind.
Rain, a wintry mix and more snow are predicted.

DebS, I remember spring blizzards, one of which came
on a Palm Sunday. But they were a dump & melt affair,
not like the photos here.

I'm with you on the Thick with Frost pic...it is
glorious indeed.

Lots of places are closed today! As it should
be...there was a Keweenaw "guess the snow amount"
contest somewhere, and all of mine were over 300
inches! So...come on snow! It'll be outstanding
waterfalls in the Spring!

I get a daily email from "Grateful Living" and some
are just good...I like this one:

We never know which lives we influence, or when, or
why.
