Never a dull moment on the shores of Lake Superior near Marquette. Shannon over at 906 Images was recently exploring Superior’s shores and found this cool ice cave and to add some perspective to the photo, he also snapped a photo of himself at the opening of the cave. Pictures you can only capture when things are frozen still. Pretty neat!

The remaining photos Shannon captured of some icy waves splashing and crashing on the shore and deposting some huge, blue chunks of ice in the process, too. You can see the chunky waters and I can only imaging what this all sounded like.

Shannon’s video was recorded a few weeks back, while he walked the ice around Presque Isle Park in Marquette. He always gets comments about being careful, when he posts things like this, to which he responded for those that are worried, “For the concerned.... I install roofs for a living.... my day job is more dangerous!” Plus he wears some heavy duty cleats when walking on the ice and is well aware of where he can walk safely and where he can’t.

Beautiful pictures! I love that first one, and blue
ice is just so pretty.

How glorious...wow. And I loved the crunching of
his walking in the video.

Hi
The first picture looks otherworldly; the following
picture does give it perspective. I enjoyed looking
at the ice formations on the lake.

With regard to the walking on the ice video, my first
reaction to someone walking on ice on the Great Lakes
IS to worry. However, I don't worrry about them
slipping but about them falling through shifting ice
(cleats wouldn't help). But if Shannon knows the area
and the ice is solidly frozen, OK, I believe him.

Uncle Chuck, glad to hear from you--on yesterday's
post as well.
