Adventure time again, with Michelle Lutke and Brett Biggers. They’re taking us to view the frozen O-kun-de-kun Falls on the Baltimore River, near Bruce Crossing in Ontonagon County. Michelle says this is one of their absolute favorite waterfalls, with a hike in of about 1.3 miles each way. They like to cross the suspension bridge over the Baltimore River to the other side where you can sneak behind the waterfall in the winter as it forms a magnificent ice cave. When they take that route, Michelle said they usually end up hiking about 3 miles total on the North Country Trail. So much winter beauty along the way, it’s a great way to get outdoors and view the falls covered in snow and ice.

Check out the amount of snow on the suspension bridge crossing over the Baltimore River in Michelle’s video. The bridge provides beautiful views of the river on the North Country Trail. Note: Michelle and Brett wear trail crampons for traction when hiking to places like these falls. You can somewhat see them in this video and in the photo of Brett under the shelf.

Hi
It looks like the Baltimore River has tannin like
the Tahquamenon River. The ice cave is interesting.

Hi again
On an unrelated topic (though it also involves ice),
congratulations the US olympic women's and men's
hockey teams for winning the gold medals. I wasn't
able to see the women's game because I don't have
cable or stream, but I saw most of the men's game
yesterday. I had to leave in the third period to get
to church.

BEAUTIFUL pictures. There sure is snow on that
bridge, but you can tell many folks have walked
that as well!

Great Video too!! They really are enjoying our
U.P. winter...Bless them!!

Very cool pictures. I'm not a fan of caves so that
would be out for me, but it all sure is beautiful.
