Bob Fleury, from over at 906 Superiorland Sunrises has been taking daily sunrise pictures in the 906 area code for over 10+ years. Last week one day, he came home from the Lake Superior shoreline in Marquette after sunrise hours and found the guy in the first photo waiting for him in the tree. I think his friend is a barred owl and those dark eyes are fixed on Bob. I’m not sure where exactly Bob captured the shot of that nice looking buck, but I’m guessing somewhere in Presque Isle Park. He’s looking pretty healthy, too.

I absolutely love the third photo. It’s quite clever and looks like it’s an elf-photographer on a bench! Bob snapped that one while waiting for the sunrise which didn’t show up that day...he said it was day #4 of sunrise-less mornings. The fourth photo of the buildings at the top of the Ore Dock, which I think resemble train cars, was taken that same day. I have no idea what those buildings are used for up there, so if you know, please chime in and let us know. The tree in the bottom photo is usually a great spot to capture the rising sun, but even without the sun showing up, it’s a great photo, with what I think are the picnic rocks out there in Lake Superior.

We’re heading further east with MI Playground for a look at the International 500 Snowmobile Race which took place on February 7th in the Soo. The lead-in to the video says: “This is the 57th Running of the International 500 Snowmobile Race in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. We had the opportunity to document the 2026 race which featured 35 teams and 500 laps on a 1-mile ice oval.”

I LOVE that owl pic, and the deer....would those
"buildings" be like offices? I love that solitary
tree too...gorgeous.

Do we still have snowmobile races up here?? I know
we used to...those were some fun days!

Hi
Nice photo of the owl; the barred owl call can be
thought of as "Who cooks for you, who cooks for you
all".

I also like the deer, caught in mid-stride.

I have no idea what
The guy is doing in
The fourth pick
Other than just site
Seeing.

Beautiful Owl photo!!!

My apologies for mine and DrNat's absence from the PastyCam in recent months. Been quite busy with writing, traveling, and other work related business. Everytime I hope to be able to post messages, something else comes up.....

Love these pictures. The owl and the deer are
magnificent and, like Donna, I love that tree.

Donna, do you remember the races out at the Maple
Leaf? We used to go watch sometimes, but I'm really
not a winter person. There's a lot I can do inside
in the winter. But that's just me.
