Judy Byykkonen and her Wind friends (Women In New Directions) got together for an evening snowshoe at McLain State Park recently and were treated to the setting sun glowing on the snow, making it sparkle and shine. The afterglow and clouds surrounding the Keweenaw Waterway Upper Entry Light is a beauty for sure. Winter gives us so many unique experiences that can’t be found just anywhere. We’re lucky to have these places to explore nearby and I’m glad these ladies get out there, then share them with us all.

We’re here with Visit Keweenaw again today, taking a look at their latest Crossing Place video – Snowstorm to Streetscape: Calumet Snow Crew. The lead-in says: “What does it take to keep a town running with over 300 inches of snow each year? In this behind-the-scenes look at Calumet, Michigan, Village Manager Megan Haselden shares how crews start at 2:00 a.m. to clear a 29-block historic downtown before businesses open - pushing snow into massive windrows, loading it with towering snow blowers, and hauling it to local snow pits in a carefully choreographed operation. From one of the region’s first female grader operators mastering a 25-year-old machine to neighbors helping neighbors with plows and snowblowers, this is the work behind winter in the Keweenaw - and a reminder that across every community up here, snow plow operators are the reason we can travel effortlessly, even in the thick of winter.”

Hi
It's great that Judy has friends to go explore with.
The picture titled "Shining on Snow" is outstanding.

Great looking photos, however, it looks pretty cold
and like most.... I'm ready for Spring & Summer! lol

That 4th picture is so stunning. What beauty Winter
brings. Along with a whole ton of work, but it's
still stunning.

That video is awesome...those people work so
hard...and you can barely scrape a teaspoon of snow
when they get done. That's an art...Cleaning up
after Mother Nature just spanks you! WTG to all the
folks doing cleanup, AND how wonderful to have the
first woman driving that huge grader!~ Go Paula!

Hi
Uncle Chuck, I hear you. Yet we have to remember it
is still February. And, I think it harder to find
beauty and inspiration in mud & rain than in the
scenes in today's post.

Hope you're doing well.
