It was a blue ice day for Stacey Flood and friends. They gathered together to do some snowshoeing on the shoreline ice near Eagle Harbor and were rewarded with some breathtaking views and incredible blocks of ice. A large blue block in the fourth photo and in the fifth photo, an almost clear, glittering ice, standing tall on the shoreline. You can see the blue sky and clouds through the top where the ice is transparent. Pretty incredible how nature creates ice sculptures to coincide with the Winter Carnival art work, too.

Now we join Kristin Ojaniemi and Discover the U.P., for episode 169 featuring ice fishing and ski jumping. The lead-in says: “A tough day on the hard water with Marquette Adventures but we still found the crappies and bluegills! Lots of mid-winter, lake-effect snow in the U.P. means lots of snow and slush on the lakes. That same day I checked out the 139th annual ski jumping competition at the Ishpeming Ski Club. And it's also the 100th anniversary of Suicide Ski Hill.”

I just love the color of snow with the blue sky
backdrop. Outstanding! And that clear ice is
beautiful. Nice shots!!

Unreal pics....wow! That huge block of blue ice is
stunning, and the clear one...just wow...and I
sorta see a face in it!

I love Discovering!

Hi
I have seen bluish green ice but not the true blue
color in the photo. The clear ice block is unreal.
And of course bright sunshine is always nice.

I'm glad to hear Uncle Chuck came through OK.

Beautiful pics & video. Blue sky can't beat it!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers,
it was quite an ordeal spending exactly 21 days in
the hospital at U of M. Had great care from top to
bottom. My second open heart surgery was not
possible because of complications, but I did
receive the latest and greatest newest Pacemaker
and I'm feeling much better but being very
cautious as well. I'm totally gassed and looking
forward to some quality sleep. lol

Special thanks to Mary for posting about me and to
Deb as well for reminding folks I was coming home
today. THE GOAL- continue to get stronger day by
day (I really have no restrictions because the new
pacemaker went in through the groin and actually
was attached to my heart vs inside the upper left
chest wall) and get back U.P. to da Yoop and the
Keweenaw this Summer. Thanks again, ALL! I
APPRECIATE YOU ALL!!
