Even when the windchill is making you want to stay inside, serious walkers like Laurie Bashaw and her hubby, Ed still get out there to trudge through inches of snow for some exercise. Laurie said the windchill was brutal on this day, but also refreshing and she added that you have to love it and they do! They only did 2 miles on this morning along the multi use path on the North Country Trail in Marquette. You can see in the bottom photo that the city hadn’t been out yet to plow the path, so the several inches of snow made the walk just a bit harder, but they persevered and got it done. Beautiful scenery along their way, helped to make the journey that much better.

Now we’re going to take a drive with E. Neil Harri on M-26 between Eagle River and Jacobs Creek Falls in the Keweenaw one day last week. The road looks narrow, but that highway is narrow even in the summer with the trees close to the road. In the winter the snow makes it that much narrower. So be like Neil and be aware - drive with care!

In case you missed this update post yesterday from Uncle Chuck...here's a repeat:

Every pic of the northern lights just seems amazing and they’re all beautiful to me! I’ve been catching up on this week’s post pictures and videos. They’re all terrific as usual. Nice job by Mary and the contributors.

Quick update I’ve been in the university of Michigan hospital since Friday of last week being stabilized the best as possible throughout my body water, weight organs, etc. getting prepared for my third open-heart surgery, which will be looks like a mitral valve replacement and one bypass at this point, according to my heart catheterization session today. The tests are going well not finding anything unusual or alarming at this point and I’m excited to get this surgery over with. I’m hoping they don’t send me home and then ask me to come back at a later surgical date. I’d like to knock it all out now and be in the UP this summer with y’all.

Uncle Chuck

Great pictures, the ride is amazing, and think of
the age of the trees, and what they have seen, from
stagecoaches on...

UC....all the very BEST! Good Luck...get that over
with and come back U.P.!~

Laurie's right. You do have to love it. I don't
love it enough to be out there in below zero
weather. Shoveling it is enough. However, get up to
the teens and 20's and I'm ready. Nice shots!

Nice picture, Chuck, and the very best of luck with
your surgery.

Mr. Harri is having some
fun blazing trails through
the snow. I used to do
the same thing down
a rural road after it
showed…fun times!
And UC is one tuff
character and no doubt
that he will pull through
and be UP and ready
to go.
The good Lord be with
you, my Brother!!!

Best wishes UC! Good luck with the surgery and hope that you'll soon be getting fresh with the nurses!
