I think it’s pretty safe to say that Jeff, Chris & Fritz Dennis absolutely love adventures, especially in the Keweenaw, but one of their favorite places is at Little Traverse. That’s where today’s first two photos of the deer encounters were taken. Chris snapped the first one of Jeff and a nice looking 8 point buck meeting underneath the stars. Jeff said, “I sat very still, I didn’t even breathe”. I can only imagine that his heart must have been pounding, too. Pretty amazing to capture something like this. Then the next photo of Chris and the deer, both looking like they’re not moving, either, just staring at each other in the magical moment. I love the title Jeff had given the photo: “A deer and my dearest”. He has a romantic flair in him!
That picture of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse is probably one of the most unique I’ve seen, with the beacon from the light cutting through the early evening dusk and the ice surrounding the shoreline like that. Beautiful! Then Chris snapped a picture of Jeff and Fritz out on the ice... they both look a bit chilly. Jeff reciprocated with a photo of Chris and Fritz taking a walk in the quietly falling snow flakes near Little Traverse. I don’t know, maybe Fritz needs to stop taking these two out on such cold adventures in freezing temperatures, I’m worried about them getting frost-bitten fingers and not being able to snap such fun photos for us to enjoy.
Speaking of the weather... Amanda from Visit Keweenaw was up in Copper Harbor at Hunter’s Point Park last week one day, with a weather update for us. As of this morning, the Keweenaw Road Commission is reporting 157.25 inches fallen so far this winter season. You can check up to date figures from the KRC here: Snowfall totals
One more weather/snow link for you... Yooper Steve has been a NWS Coop Weather Observer, measuring snow since 2011. Click on the following link to see his video from this past weekend on how he measures the snow. It’s quite interesting! Yooper Steve – Weather Observer

Hi
That first photo is striking. There is a Robert
Frost poem "Two Look at Two". In it a human couple
standing still see and are seen by a doe and a buck
who pass by "unscared".
In the other photos, Fritz looks frosted. But still
perfectly happy to be walking with his people.

How cool are those first 2 pictures? I love them
all, though. Fritz is such a lucky dog.

Beautiful! I never got to pet a deer, even tho they
ate at my place for years. A friend feeds them as
well, and they walk into his garage to say hi and
"feed me"....and he pets them. I'm so jealous. lol
Gorgeous pics...great vid...Yooper Steve knows how
to enjoy the season for sure! Awesome job dude!
