What a great capture showing the uniqueness of the Eagle River Falls when the snow is surrounding the water and the ice is forming despite the water still flowing. Debbie Jarve snapped this classic here in the Keweenaw and one that should definitely be framed and hanging on someone’s wall.
Debbie also took a drive to Calumet Waterworks one day last week when believe it or not, the sun was actually shining, brightening not only the shoreline of Lake Superior, but all of our Yooper spirits. We don’t get to see as much sunshine during these cold, windy winter months. You can see the ice chunks floating in the waves that were rolling in that day and I can just imagine the sounds of the wind and the waves as they came splashing a-shore.
To get the sounds of Lake Superior today, we head to Marquette with Shannon, over at 906 Images. We’re going for a short walk down to the shores of the Big Lake to check out the power of this Great Lake that looks and acts like an ocean, but is still just a lake.

Great pictures! I do love waves, but the first
picture did it for me. Just beautiful!

Hi
I love the snowy picture at the top. Everything
(except a few snowbanks) has melted down here in
Jackson. It doesn't look like we'll have a white
Christmas. Oh well, there are still pretty Christmas
lights.
