When it comes to scenic UP views, Nancy Haun definitely has the eye for capturing the beauty that surrounds us. I for one, am glad she does, because when we live in the midst of all these stunning scenes, we sometimes don’t even notice them anymore. Nancy makes us stop and take notice once again and appreciate how lucky we are to pass these by each and every day. Thanks for that, Nancy!
The view of Hancock and the Quincy Mine Shaft in the distance is one of Nancy’s favorite views. She chanced a few shots of it recently while they were heading home and said she got lucky with this one. It’s picture perfect, I agree! That’s the Silver River in Skanee in her second photo. It wasn’t quite frozen when she snapped this one. Then she captured a view of Dault’s Creek in Herman, on what looks like a hazy winter morning. Make sure you slow down and enjoy the views like Nancy does.
Another thing Nancy slows down for, are the trains in the L’Anse area... and I don’t mean just at railroad crossings, she takes the time to record the comings and goings to share with us all, Today’s video was made during the first real storm of the season that left tons of snow. Nancy said she really wanted to get some good photos, so she spent two days of waiting between 4 to 5 hours each day to get the perfect shots. There was trouble plowing the L’Anse Hill as the snowfighter developed a problem, but the Canadian National crews did amazing work trying to ensure the L’Anse Hill was safe enough for the crew to bring the train into town.
