Jeff Dennis and Fritz braved the elements recently on a calm Lake Superior day to go and check out the cliffs at Little Traverse Bay. In case you’re worried about the pair, Jeff told me that conditions have to be perfect for him and he stays right at the shore line, so if something did happen he’s in pretty shallow water. And just look at those walls of ice! Seeing that right there in front of you is quite an experience I would imagine. Just spectacular!
We had another dumping of snow this past weekend here in the Keweenaw, with some pretty cold temperatures and windchills, so this Keweenaw Snow Update courtesy of Visit Keweenaw from 12/11/2025 is a little out of date, but there are Snowmobile trails open and ready to ride. You can always get up-to-date information about the snowfall and trails on their webpage here: Keweenaw Snowfall Trail Conditions

Pretty gutsy pics considering how cold the water must be, not to mention the air temperature. And I like the way that Fritz is ducking down behind the bow of the kayak to keep warm, no doubt.

They are brave to kayak in that frigid water. And yep, Fritz is smart enough to get some protection. Such a smart puppy. The pictures are beautiful, though.
