Once the weather settles down and us Yoopers settle in to the fact that winter is here, even though the calendar says it’s still Fall, then we can begin to soak in the beauty of the wintry season, until the next big blow again. Nora Dee shows us a glimpse of sunshine peeking through the clouds out in Jacobsville, a welcome sight after snowy days. I like the tracks through the snow, too.
The second shot is from Aladino Mandoli. That’s Bucolia, what they call their home in the Valley. Bucolia means: “1. : of or relating to shepherds or herdsmen : pastoral. 2. : relating to or typical of rural life.” I think the last one is their choice...he snapped this from the porch of their new home, that’s the little cabin that they stayed in on visits, before the new house was completed. I love the shadows, the sun on the snow and ominous clouds in the sky. Quite the peaceful, rural scene.
The third photo is the sunset on one of my walks last week, as evening was quickly approaching. I couldn’t pass up such a beautiful look at the sun setting, creating shadows from the trees bordering our field and the sun turning the snow golden colors.
Since the snow is here to stay, I figured it would be a good time to remind folks about Snowmobile Smarts: Ride informed, ride prepared, ride the Keweenaw! Visit Keweenaw shares this video with tips to stay safe. The lead-in says: “With the season gearing up, the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club is already hard at work getting the trails ready for your best winter yet. Their on-the-ground insights help you stay informed – from what groomers are seeing to how conditions are shaping up across the peninsula. Stay prepared, ride smart, and keep your trip running smooth!”

The pics are gorgeous...the video has excellent info...all tourists should watch it...wouldn't hurt for locals to get a reminder as well.
Hi The third photo is my favorite. Nice snowy scenes all around.

Beautiful photos, all so serene. I love them all, but the cabin in the valley grabs me for some reason.

As with any mode of transportation please do not drink alcohol beverages and snowmobile. Bob and I were asked one snowmobile vacations to assist with a snowmobile accident near Phoenix. It was not a pretty sight to say the least.

Beautiful Fall pics! One rule I remember while snowmobiling is that you were always responsible for the rider behind you and when you came to a fork in the road, you would wait for the rider behind you so that he would know which way to go.
