A new holiday tradition has started this season in Hancock. Folks have transformed the Hancock Campground into a winter wonderland of light and color. It’s called Hancock Lights the Night, with over 23 businesses, organizations, groups, clubs and individuals that have adopted campsites to decorate a loop in the campground. The City of Hancock will help the campground come alive with holiday-inspired sparkle also. It’s geared toward kids of all ages and for those who love the Christmas holiday season. Check out the calendar in the bottom photo for dates and times it will be open or you can click here for more information from Visit Keweenaw: Hancock Lights the Night

The first and last photo here today were provided by the City of Hancock. You can check out their Facebook page for more information also: City of Hancock

The second, third and fourth photos were snapped by Deb Simons who did the walk-through on Saturday evening. All other evenings are drive-through evenings only. Deb said it was a beautiful evening for a walk and the city of Hancock did a wonderful job. It was the first year in what will probably be a fun tradition. Congratulations to them.

The fifth and sixth photos were taken by Barbara Bouwkamp on one of the drive-through evenings. She said if you get a chance go see the lights, it’s a cute drive through the campground. Canned food and monetary donations are accepted at the campground entrance.

Visit Keweenaw shares a video reel, saying: “This Hancock event is CLARK GRISWOLD approved!” Hancock Lights the Night is adding sparkle to your season. Take a family road trip through a festive drive-through that will have everyone oohing and ahhing! 5:30 – 8 pm Thursdays – Saturdays all Holiday season (check the calendar to be sure).

What a fun tradition that's going to be. And I'm
sure they'll add to it every year. When we stopped
to talk to some of the people who were working
there they said they were so pleasantly surprised
by how far some of us were coming from. I only came
from Lake Linden, but our friends were from Ahmeek
and I guess they just weren't sure how well
received it would be. They were even handing out
hand warmers for those who needed them. We told
them we'd be sure to spread the word. I'd say it
was a success, at least in my book. If they had
another walking night, we'd go back yet this year.

What a fun tradition,
indeed!!!
Glow sticks for the kids
would be a big hit, I bet.
That would make them
part of the show.
Good video too!
Thanks to all the
contributors!!!

Hi
That looks wonderful. Here in Jackson they used to
decorate the fairgrounds something like that, &
called it Nite Lites. And charge a per car fee, but
it was something to do as a family, especially as my
mom got older. Then they moved Nite Lites to
Michigan International Speedway near Brooklyn.
Larger, more expensive, more time-consuming.
Treasure what you have.
