When Diane Richard woke up this past Sunday morning, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Her deck and yard were filled with snow once again, somewhere between 6 to 8 more inches fell and she was snowed in again, second time since earlier in the week, into Thanksgiving. She did tell me though, that it is once again a Winter Wonderland there in the L’Anse/Baraga area and she just can’t get enough of the snowy photos. The Christmas lights on her deck, with the snow covering them is just so pretty, indeed, but then I look at her bottom photograph and all that snow on her vehicle and in the driveway... nope, not so pretty. I sure hope this isn’t a sign of the kind of winter we’re going to have this 2025 – 2026 season. Of course if it is, there’s not much we can do about it, except bundle up and get out there to move that snow and then play in it, too!

Diane recorded a short video in the Baraga State Park with the snow all on the trees. She says it is “truly magnificent” and you know what? She’s absolutely correct, it really is. This time of year we don’t stop to smell the roses, here UP North we stop to appreciate the beauty of the snowy scenery.

Hi
It is definitely prettier than dead grass & mud, at
least to me. Of course, being downstate and inland I
am not likely to get the amount of snow Diane will
get. I do remember more snow, more consistently, in
the winter when I was younger. There was a lot of
cross-country skiing down here in Jackson. Even a
couple of local businesses that sold cross-country
ski equipment.

Holy smokes! Kathryn, that's about the only thing
is better than, lol. I love the picture with the
lights. I like color. The grays, blacks and whites
for so many months is not my thing. Beautiful
pictures, though. I sure hope this isn't a sign of
things to come.

it!!! Heritage's clean up crew really do a fine

Heavy snow pix, indeed!
Does this amount of
snow, this early, seem
unusual?

Hi
Deb S., I hear you. Two thoughts:
1. That's probably why we do put up Christmas lights
2. It all looks a lot better in bright sunshine

Mary Drew's idea to get out and play in it is a good
one.

Donna, good for you re getting the snow cleaned up
for you. At a certain point you say "Yes, I've got
sisu but my legs/arms/lungs don't".
