Barbara Bouwkamp took a drive on the Rice Lake Road after the storm, to check on things at their camp. She told me it was beautiful and I have to agree, the snow-covered trees are quite pretty, but that heavy, wet snow really was tough on the trees, pulling branches off and bending the trees over in some cases. In the fourth photo, with the tree laying partially in the road, you can see that some of it has been cut off and removed. I’m not positive, but pretty sure it’s the same tree that Jeff Dennis had in one of his photos on Monday. Check it out here: Jeff’s photo. Looks like the line is back up in Barbara’s shot, so maybe it went back in place after the tree was moved or it was repaired by the time Barbara took her photo. She also said the road was quite slippery and she drove it at 25 mph, stopping to take the pictures.
Next we join E. Neil Harri for a drive on the Eagle Harbor Road in Keweenaw County after the storm. Neil said they didn’t get quite as much snow there in Eagle Harbor, but here again it looks so pretty with the snow on the trees and the road plowed so well by the Keweenaw County Road Commission. You can see a few trees down on the sides of the road, but for the most part the road was clear.

That was quite the storm! By the time that we went
to Hancock on Friday, the roads were pretty much
cleared and pretty bare. We had been snowed in and
it was not easy shoveling that stuff. These
pictures sure do capture what it was like out
there. I love the deer in the road. Sure hope any
more snow we get is light and fluffy. So much
easier to shovel. I don't even mind that.

Nice pix, but they look
like they were taken in
black and white. Where’s
the color?
And a nice video of which
I enjoyed the quietness
of the road.
