The Aurora was over-active this past week and we’re lucky to have a variety of photos from three different photographers, showing the various colors seen during the several nights of lights. We start off at Keweenaw Bay between L’Anse and Baraga at the Bishop Baraga Shrine on the Red Rocks, with two photos from Diane Richard. How appropriate that the sky was lit UP red around and above the Bishop and the stars twinkling overhead, too. Absolutely stunning!

Next we head out on the Mud Lake Road in Lake Linden, where Ramona Elander England captured the early morning skies turned purple. You can see the Big Dipper turned upside-down in the first of her two shots and in the second purple photo, the white is brilliantly bright above the horizon. Quite breathtaking!

The third set of photos are from Deb Simons, taken in the skies over the town of Lake Linden. Deb said the lights were so bright that they were shining through the few clouds that were in the night sky, too. I love how the stars are like small beacons, directing the Aurora’s beauty to expand into the far reaches of the night. Simply amazing!

To top of the photos, we have a 360 timelapse video of the Aurora’s from the Blackrocks in Marquette, recorded by Shannon over at 906 Images. Shannon says you can see the moon rising in the bottom right towards the end of the video. What a beautiful compilation!

It just amazes me how the lights are different
colors in differed places. They're just stunning
and so much fun to watch. We stepped outside and
the sky was just bright, even through the clouds
that night. Nights like those I wish we didn't have
the motion sensor on our garage. I wonder how
they'd be if that light wasn't shining.

This past episode of
lights reached far down
into the lower States.
I saw a report that they
showed up in TX.
I was not a big “Prince”
fan, but I did like
“Purple Rain;” and
Pix 3&4 make me wax
lyrical;
“I never meant to cause
you any sorrow
I never meant to cause
you any pain
I only wanted one time
to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
laughing in the purple rain”

Hi
I'm told the aurora did get down in my area
(around Jackson, MI) but I didn't hear about it
until the next morning, and I failed to look
outside at the right time.

The second photo looking up at the statue is
otherworldly.

Alex, I don't know much about Prince & his songs.
From the lyrics you quote, I visualize him dumping
grape juice on a girlfriend & trying to apolgize
when she shrieks "Yeee! You just ruined this
blouse!!"

Beautiful...my cuz Bev and I look around the
world...we end up in Iceland, Norway, Greenland,
Finland...lights are stunning no matter where. They
really hit in Greenland.

These are all sooooooooooo beautiful!
