The U.P. received it’s first snowfall this past weekend and depending where you live, it was anywhere from 18 inches in the Marquette area that the Lake Effect snow dropped, to just a few inches here in the Keweenaw. Donna MacIntosh snapped up a few photos from the Michigan Tech Campus Cams to show us the snow around Ripley and College Avenue. She started out with a photo when Mont Ripley was green one day and then white the next. Of course on Mont Ripley, you can see the “snow machines” working at making additional snow, since the temperatures were in the low thirties and upper twenties at night. Donna also copied a shot of College Avenue where you can see some fall color in the leaves that were still on the trees, and the white blanketing the ground and rooftops. The temperatures as this week progressed, were a bit warmer, so the snow is most likely mostly melted here in the Keweenaw. Never fear though, it will return again.
Visit Keweenaw, along with Nathan, the Invincible, ask... Think Fall Fun is Over? Think Again and follow us to Maasto Hiihto. The lead-in says: “Keweenaw POV: Sun one minute, frozen sprinkle the next—Nathan’s out at Maasto Hiihto proving that Keweenaw trails are never boring! Even as leaves tumble, it’s still a season seek out playful streams and nature's peaceful flow as we plan for winter!”

Nice set and the only constant in the universe is change. Nice short video too.

Thanks Mary...I check them daily...it's amazing what you see. Tech's campus is always fun to watch the kids, running back and forth...lots have their noses in their phones..surprising they don't bounce off each other!
And yes...looking today, there are a couple patches of snow on Mt.Ripley, where the machines were working....otherwise....it's gone!
Very nice, Donna. Amazing what difference a day can make. And driving past yesterday, Donna's right. There's only snow where the machines were working. I don't know why they start that so early. It seems nearly every year it melts a few times before it stays. I wonder if there's a benefit to that.
