With the looks of these Fall photos from Deb Simons, the Porkies Ski Resort will be preparing for the winter season before too long, as it looks like many of the leaves in the area are past peak and have fallen to the ground. Deb and Ron took a ride on the ski lift there recently and enjoyed quite the view of Lake Superior, too. I would venture to say that no matter the season, the views from the ski hill are some of the best in the area.

We have another installment from Alexis Dahl, wrapping up her time with the Mackinac Bridge team and filling us in on ‘Why the Mackinac Bridge is Still Safe’. Here’s what Alexis says about the video: “The Mackinac Bridge team let me follow them around for a day, and here's what I learned about how they're still keeping this feat of engineering alive. Special thanks to the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Mackinac Bridge Authority for the images, research help, and of course, the excellent tour of the bridge!”

Hi
Since Mackinaw City is only 20 miles from my
vacation cabin, I'm real familiar with the bridge. I
found the video quite interesting. I'd never thought
that the bridge needed constant looking after.
Whenever I've crossed it for a day trip to the
eastern UP, I've enjoyed the view and the scenery. I
confess, though, that I prefer to stay in the
concrete outer lanes.

I love that bear...how cool! Deb and Ron...you guys
put MILES on! That's so wonderful! You are so
lucky.

Love the Vid...Alexis sure knows her stuff, and how
to get it done too! She's amazing!

I love this area. What a sight from the top of the
hill and coming down. I can't get enough of it. And
I love that bear too, Donna. And we sure did put
the miles on in September and October. We didn't
really get to do much of anything after my knee
surgery, so we had to make up for it before the
snow flies, lol. It had been a long time since we
were at the Porkies. Lake of the Clouds was
beautiful as ever too. We thought maybe we'd go
spend a couple of days there next summer. We'll
see.
