A few weeks back, Debbie Jarve took an Autumn hike to check out the Hungarian Falls in the Hubbell/Tamarack area. The bridge in the first photo is on the snowmobile trail and off to the right, is where you start on the trail to hike to the falls. It’s a moderate to advance hike, depending where you start from, according to the Keweenaw Landtrust webpage. I would say from the starting point in Debbie’s first photo it would be a moderate hike. The bottom photo makes the hike well worth taking. I love the fallen leaves floating in the water below the falls, with the ripples and reflections. Now that one would make a beautiful canvas to hang on the wall.
At the same time Debbie sent in the Falls photos, she shared a beautiful shot of the Harvest Moon, which I included here today. It actually peaked in the first week in October and was the first super moon of the year. It’s known as the Harvest Moon because it is the full moon closest to the fall equinox. I’m going to be humming Neil Young’s Harvest Moon the rest of the day now.
Pasty Central ships a lot of pasties to former Yoopers in Missouri. We have a bit of an oddity video today from KMBC 9 news. It’s not U.P., but I found it interesting and odd at the same time and thought it would be fun to share. Leila’s Hair Museum, a unique museum in Independence, Missouri, closed its doors for good on Sept. 30, leaving behind a legacy known around the world. Leila’s granddaughter Lindsey, talks about how her grandmother started this unique museum. Check it out…

Really beautiful pictures. I just love when the
leaves look like a carpet on the ground and they
smell so good. And the waterfalls look so inviting.
I really like that little bridge on the trail, too.
I think we'll take a ride down that way this
afternoon. The days are getting shorter and we have
to enjoy the sunshine while we can.

It is a beautiful day out there, for sure, and it
is amazing what this fall has done. Green, red,
orange, yellow and bare! Just amazing....
Wild vid...that's one thing I have NEVER thought of
for a craft. Hair. Who'd a thunk??
