We join Deb Simons and her hubby, Ron on a drive to the Freda area, which includes traveling on the Covered Road, also referred to as the Covered Drive. Lots of yellows on the tunnel of leaves there. My top pick is the fourth photo where you can see the bright yellow at the end of the tunnel. The fallen leaves along the sides of the road in all the shots are a favorite, too. We are blessed to live in the midst of all this beauty.

Landen Brocato takes us on a Fall Foliage Adventure around the Upper Peninsula. The lead-in says: “Join me on a journey through Michigan's Upper Peninsula the fall foliage begins to emerge and flourish! I spent three incredible days exploring some of the most picturesque destinations in the UP. From the charming town of Ironwood where I stayed at a campsite with breathtaking autumn colors, to the majestic Porcupine Mountains where I saw some beautiful overlooks, I take you along as I discover the beauty and abundance of all the U.P. waterfalls including Bond Falls, Munising Falls, and Miners Falls. Experience the stunning views from Lake of the Clouds, and the Kennesaw Peninsula, and explore many historic lighthouses along the way. But the highlight of the trip? A sunset cruise along the stunning coastline of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where the breathtaking coastline comes alive against the backdrop of Lake Superior. Finishing my trip with a Vibrant Sunset on Lake Superior.”

The colors definitely weren't as vibrant as other
years when we went, but it's still always beautiful
there. It's hard to choose a favorite, but like
Mary, I love the leaves on the sides of the road in
all of them. They really grabbed me as we were
going through. I guess i like the 2nd, 4th and 5th.
Like I said, hard to choose. It was a very
beautiful day in the Copper Country.

Gorgeous pics Deb...gotta say, when we went through
there, I really was not impressed...like you
said...in other years.....

Cool Vid...I'm so glad folks not from here, get to
come up and enjoy our little area.

That drive is always pretty no matter the time of year. In the fall it’s
just a little more special. Thanks for the beautiful photos, since I
can’t be there this is nice!

Beautiful video.

I try to never miss the Covered Road when in the area. It's always a bit different each time. I've never been down it in the Winter, although I think it's not plowed.

One time, several years ago an 18 wheeler logging truck met me head on. He kept flashing his headlights and it made me think of the 1971 Spielberg movie "Duel", where a ghostly tanker truck terrorizes Dennis Weaver. Turns out he was just trying to tell me there was a turnout near him where we could pass each other safely.

I remember that movie, D.A.. And I've never been to
the covered road when I haven't enjoyed it. U.S. 41
heading into Copper Harbor is beautiful also.

Nice set, Deb!
It’s nice to see you
and Ron getting out
and enjoying the Fall
colors.
The Covered Road
always reminds me of
The Tunnel of Trees
That is just below the
bridge. That was always
an annual drive for me
back when I was able.
And the movie Duel
is an annual classic
for me.
