Big Erick’s Bridge on the Huron River near Skanee, is also known as Big Eric’s Bridge, so I’m not entirely sure which is the correct name. On the Bridge in Marsha Galbraith’s photos here today, it’s spelled Big Erick’s, but if you go to the webpages, most of them say Big Eric’s, so take your pick. Marsha picked a good time to visit there recently, as the colors were popping all along the Huron River. According to the link in the previous sentence, there’s also a State Forest Campground nearby and you have easy access to a wilderness wonderland for hikers, hunters, ORV and outdoor enthusiasts.

Stellar Eureka is digging up 10 of the strangest vegetables growing right here in the USA—unusual, overlooked, and downright bizarre veggies you’ve likely never tasted. From wild onions that look like flowers to heirloom squashes with twisted necks, these plants aren’t just weird—they’re packed with history, flavor, and survival stories. Some once saved pioneers from starvation. Others were beloved by Indigenous communities. And many are now being rediscovered by foragers, chefs, and backyard gardeners alike. Pretty Interesting!

Niiiiiiic!!!
Thanks, Marsha.
And since we’re taking
picks, I’ll pick;
“Big Erica’s”

Someone painted the name on the bridge...that
didn't used to be there. It's been a loooong time
since I've been there, but that really is one of
the most beautiful places anywhere....and tons of
trees that are absolutely glorious there....I'm so
glad the colors came along! and they are just
stunning. GREAT pics Marsha, and you even got in
there!

I think Big Eric's BRIDGE is the winner, Mary.

Very nice photos & memory jogger, Marsha

It truly is a great spot. I camped there in my trailer 4 years ago, almost to the day (10/14/21).

Donna,
There were no painted labels at that time. The Fall color was on it's way out that year.

I had the entire 20 campsites all to myself except for the very nice gentleman and his dog from Ishpeming. He just came up for the day to do some fishing and was quite successful, offering me some of his catch.

Ten more obscure vegetables? There are already too many others that don't trigger my visual palette. I guess I don't know what I'm missing.
