Laurie Bashaw said this display for the Halloween season on the North Country Trail in Marquette, brings a smile to her face when she walks by this yard. It’s so fun to see how the owners have arranged the skeletons, including signs about the beach being closed due to shark warnings and then of course there’s one skeleton fishing for a shark skeleton, too. Make sure you check out the one trying to get away from the skeleton dog that’s hanging on to her skirt. The folks who set this all up have a great sense of humor and are quiet creative. What a fun display, thanks for sharing it with us, Laurie!

We join G2 Outdoor Adventures for a look at a medicinal wild edible – Goldenrod. The lead-in to the video says: “Today we're gathering one of our favorite medicinal wild edibles… goldenrod. It tastes similar to green tea with so many more benefits. This plant is easily identified and easier to harvest.”

Halloween decorations
, but I guess it’s going
to be here pretty soon.
Creative display!!!
Nice video and if
anyone is going to
Kentucky, please pick
me up a six-pack.

Those pics are just awesome...you sure are
right....there is a sense of humor in that house!
That is so cool..

And the vid is interesting...it's certainly time
for Goldenrod....it's everywhere.

Cindy Lou and I took a spin for a color tour. I
gotta say...this is not a stunning Autumn like we
are used to. There's a ton of green, and what's
colored is dead on the trees or they are bare. I
asked ChatGPT if wildsmoke affects our Fall, and
the answer was YES.

Yes—wildfire smoke can affect autumn leaf colors
by reducing sunlight, which may lead to less
vibrant hues and a shorter foliage season.

Reduced sunlight from smoke haze.
Stress on trees.
Cloudy conditions mimic smoke effect.
Fungal diseases from moisture + smoke.

So while autumn still puts on a show, wildfire
smoke can dim the brilliance—especially the reds—
and shorten the season. That said, some areas may
still dazzle if conditions improve or if tree
species are more resilient.

I wanted to share a video about the Big Annie Statue project, produced by Robbie Joe Mishica, but it wouldn't let us embed it on the webpage today, so I'm posting the link to it on Facebook here below instead. I hope this works for those interested. (You may have to click on the speaker icon in the video frame, if the volume doesn't automatically turn on)

The Legacy of Big Annie Clemenc

On October 25th, from 7:30 to 10:30 at the Calumet Theatre, there will be a Toast to Big Annie Event. A fundraiser, where you can see the
progress of the Anna Klobuchar Clemenc bronze statue by award winning sculptor Andy Sacksteder.
There will be a Cash bar, pianist Paul Behn, speaker Steve Lehto, silent auction, Mescowaubic Fine Dining appetizers, music by the Jones Brothers. A fun packed evening! You can also take in the free showing of Red Metal at 6:30 prior to this ticketed event. I just love these pictures. How fun it must have
been to walk past them. I'm such a Jaws fan and I
find these so creative. The family must have had a
blast putting them together.
