We can always count on Shannon, over at 906 Images, to give us a unique perspective of Presque Isle Park in Marquette. Today he’s sharing some drone photos overlooking the Black Rocks area, where folks jump from the rocks, to about 15 feet below into Lake Superior. The scenery is stunning to say the least, but check out the crystal clear waters of Superior. Especially when the waters are so calm, you can see the rocks in the Big Lake. From above like the first three photos, you see the mass of rock above water level and it doesn’t look as challenging to jump off those rocks, as it does in person or even in the bottom photo, which shows how high off the water the rocks really are.

Shannon also shares a video here today, showing how Lake Superior can be brutal, yet peaceful at the same time. Note the water cascading over the rocks where the jumping normally occurs, looking like a waterfall. Black Rock cove on Presque Isle never disappoints.

Let's try this again, I had my message completed and
then it just disappeared!! I did something wrong...
imagine that!

Great Pics & Videos, spent plenty of time out on the
Black Rocks while attending NMU. One of the many
benefits of going to College in the U.P.. Great way
to start the day, although a JUMP from the perch out
on the Black Rocks would be just about PERFECT as
well.

One more thing, HOW ABOUT THOSE LIONS!! Can't wait
for Thanksgiving and the Packers coming back to the
Motor City!! The starters having not played in the
preseason, have knocked the rust off now, LET'S GO
LIONS!!

I forgot to add to my first message that, the color
of pics 2 & 3 is just amazing and again.... truly
shows how beautiful Lake Superior is and how
fortunate we are to have such a great lake right
here in our backyard.

Hi
In the secod photo, it looks like there is a deeper
channel right below what I think is the jump point.
But I've only seen this area in Pasty Cam posts, so
I could be wrong.

Glad to hear feom you U.C.

Hi again
Apologies for the misspellings (secod vs second,
feom vs from) in my post.

Awesome video and photos.

I wish I had a drone. They've revolutionized photographic art.

I found this interesting article about a huge underwater volcanic shoal in Canadian waters. It rises almost 1000 feet above the Lake's floor and is just 21 feet below the surface. They call it The Freshwater Everest of Lake Superior.

Hey Uncle Chuck,
Thanksgiving with the Lions is always a great time. In the late 60's and early 70's my family used to put the turkey in the oven and then head to Tiger's Briggs Stadium for a dose of Lion's football, followed by the traditional feast.
