When it comes to capturing the Northern Lights UP North in the Keweenaw, George C. Bailey has the perfect spot to do so, right on the shores of Lake Superior, not too far from Copper Harbor and the tip of the Keweenaw and right there in his front yard. Thankfully, he always snaps a variety of shots when they’re lighting the skies and reflecting in the Big Lake to share with us all. Stunning!

In addition to today’s Aurora’s, we have a time-lapse video of the Northern Lights over Eagle Harbor from Isaac Diener. He said the night he captured these views they were short-lived for only about 20 minutes and then were gone, so he was lucky to be there to capture it all. What a beautiful set we have today!

Stunning...so stunning...and what a night, indeed.
My cousin and I (she's in Detroit...Hi Bev!) are
searching YouTube....and we were all over the
world, and it was just so glorious!! Isle Royale
was green. Marquette had them. The best show I have
seen in decades was in Finland. Greenland,
Canada...just everywhere was so lit up...it was
just glorious.

Just beautiful! We were excited to be
able to capture them right off of our
back porch on Sunday night. They were
spectacular! You're so lucky, George.

Life, what an exquisite privilege.

Extraordinary display,
Beauty Eh?
Thank Mr. Bailey for
taking the time and
sharing with us!
Another example of
how the earth protects
it’s inhabitants and
without it, we would
all be Humpty Dumpty. .

Hi
Those are pretty, and of course you need to use a
camera/phone camera in order to post the photo on-
line. But, did anyone in the UP see anything like
this with the naked eye?

Suppose that only once or twice in a life-time you
could see color in a sunset with your naked eye---
that normally the only way to fully experience it
was at a remove, through a camera. It'd be a
little harder to work up enthusiasm over sunsets,
at least for me.

And, full disclosure, my old phone is no help in
enhancing the northern lights.

Great shots George and Isaac and congratulations for staying up so late.

I have my computer setup to download and save all the single photos created once every 5 minutes on some of the Isle Royale web cameras. I then created this video from September 14th.
