I can’t think of a better way to end a beautiful day, than heading to McLain State Park for a beach walk with friends. That’s exactly what Beth Jukuri did recently and while the ladies were exploring the beach, they found an interesting rock house, complete with a window to peek through. Beth said it was already there, created by someone else, but the ladies took advantage of some great photo opportunities along the beach there near the campground. One of Beth’s lady friends summed the evening up by saying how she is treasuring these late summer, early fall evenings. The bottom photo are Omarolluks, also called Omar rocks for short. They are actually a type of glacial erratic found on Lake Superior beaches, characterized by the presence of spherical holes, which are eroded concretions. They originated on Belcher Islands in Hudson Bay, Canada and were transported to Lake Superior by glaciers.
Next we head to the Ottawa National Forest just south of Ontonagon to check out the Norwich Bluff with Nathan, the Invincible, courtesy of Visit Keweenaw. The lead-in says: “Norwich Bluff hike! Towering cliffs, copper mining history, and endless forest views make this one of the summer's most rewarding day trips hikes from the Keweenaw. Come fall, these trails explode with color - worth a return trip!” For more information about the Norwich Bluff, click here: Norwich Bluff day trip

Hi
When I lived in the Ann Arbor area, cairns (stacks
of rocks) would appear at the edge of a particular
trail. I don't know whether neo-pagans or U of M art
majors were responsible. But the rock house in the
photos took a lot more time & effort; definitely
Superior.
