When it comes to backyard birding, Kevin Dunham seems to have the perfect spot for attracting a variety of colorful birds. He recently had a new visitor show up at his feeder, what he thinks is a Nashville Warbler. A pretty little bird with a subdued yellow coloring on it’s belly. The other birds he captured while they partook of his bird buffet, were an American Goldfinch, a Nuthatch and several Purple Finches, including one with a spikey hairdo. That Goldfinch was sporting it’s summer attire with bright yellow coloring and a black head, looking like he might be wearing a toupee. A nice assortment of birds and I bet the songs they were singing filled his yard, too.
Derek from Badgerland Birding is going to help us learn 25 of the most common backyard bird calls in the Central and Eastern United States, along with tips on how to remember each call and who is singing it. Don’t worry, there won’t be a test at the end of it.
