Pallets that are used in shipping a variety of items, so that a fork lift can move them around easily, can be recycled and repurposed in many ways. Donna MacIntosh found an interesting one recently at her Houghton apartment building. She said her next door neighbor’s daughter made the planter in the first photo out of pallets, for her mother to plant flowers on the balcony of her apartment. She put a tote inside the lower portion with soil to plant flowers and also made a small planter across the top to plant more. Quite a neat little unit, I think! Donna also snapped a few photos of some of the colorful flowers her neighbor has planted to brighten up her balcony and living space there. My favorite is the fourth photo of the flowering succulents. We have a pot with the same plants in front of our garage and they seem to flower over and over again all summer long!
Sunflowers are also a favorite of mine and Wane 15 News has quite the story about a record breaking sunflower, named ‘Clover’, that is trying to break a world record now. Check it out!

These are so gorgeous! My favorite is
the pallet planter. I'd love one of
those. Just beautiful, Donna. I'm glad
you have some summer beauty to enjoy
there.

Isn't that just beautiful? Palettes...things piled
up for garbage can be turned into such beauty!
