Jeff Dennis and family were doing a bit of touring recently and in case you’re wondering, the star of the family, Fritz the wonder dog, stayed at home with “grandma & grandpa” for this adventure. They began their travels with some Island Time on Mackinac Island, checking out the view of Fort Mackinac and getting up close and personal with the transportation, then jumping in the saddle and riding around the island. That’s Rose and Walter galloping by the Grand Hotel in the second shot.

From the Island, they made their way to the Newberry area and headed out to Crisp Point Lighthouse, but on the way, they came upon the sign in the third photo. In case you can’t read it in the photo, it says: “At this spot, on April 24, 2015 the Michigan State Police rescued two sisters from Oklahoma and Nebraska who had their SUV stuck in the snow for 13 days. The sisters survived on Girl Scout Cookies, Cheetos and other snack foods they had with them.” Of note, back in May, one of the sisters, Leslie, visited the Crisp Point Light Historical Society. It was her second time coming back to Crisp Point in the ten years since the sisters got stuck there in the snow. You can read more about this story on mlive.com and see a few photos of the rescue, too, click here: Missing Sisters Survive 2 Weeks I also read online that besides the sign, an emergency phone has been installed in the area, as cell phone service is non-existent in the area. Jeff said that the road to Crisp Point is very remote, sandy and has many twists and turns. He added that the sign is not far from the Lighthouse, in relation to the long road through the woods.

We’re back on the Island with Through My Lens. The lead-in to the video says: “Mackinac Island is a charming place with horse-drawn carriages waiting to whisk you away through streets that feel untouched by time. Around each corner, you will smell the sweet temptation of fudge that lofts from many of the store windows and indulge in great food and fantastic shopping. Plus, grab a bike and head out on a 8 mile ride around the island. We really fell in love with Mackinac Island and had the perfect day exploring this special place.”

Nice summer set!!!
The blue sky in the
“Crisp Point Lighthouse”
photo is incredible and
makes a perfect backdrop
for the white and red
lighthouse.

That lighthouse through the driftwood is a
spectacular picture! WOWOWOWOWOW!!

Poor Fritz...stuck at home during the huge
adventure! I hope Grandma and Grandpa spoil him
rotten.

Thank you again for the voting reminder~!

And TEN years since those gals got stuck in the
woods. Holy wha. I wonder if anything has happened
since??

Great pictures! The blues are so vivid
in the lighthouse pictures, and I,
too, loved the driftwood one. Very
nice but not the same without Fritz
the wonder dog, lol. Just joking,
Jeff. Moms and dads need a vacation
from the "kids".

Three years ago I finally made it to Crisp Point. I could see how easy it would be to make a wrong turn or get disoriented in winter months. Interesting how I saw and framed similar photos as Jeff. I also added a view from the top.
