We had quite a rainstorm last week with several deluges of heavy rainfall. Some places had more damage than others, including several roads getting washed out, including the Misery Bay road in Ontonagon County. Beth Jukuri said they ended up with three inches in Chassell, which is so much less than some places received, but that amount of rain made their garden very sloppy as you can see by her photos here today. At the time she took these photos, she was hoping the sun would take some of that muck back and sure enough it did. A few days later, Beth reported that their garden had weathered the rains pretty well, as the weeds and grass were growing fast, too, but she said the sun and heat has really helped the plants to start producing. So all is well in their beautiful, big garden.

It was raining when Visit Keweenaw made this video for a visit to the Houghton County Historical Museum in Lake Linden, but that didn’t stop them. Their response was: “Rain? No problem! We’re heading into a time machine!”

Laurium Manor Inn is in the running (again!) for Newsweek’s Best Historical B&B, and this time, they’re aiming for the top spot. If you’d like to help achieve that honor, you can cast your vote by clicking here: Newsweek’s Best Historical B&B, then click the black button that says: “Vote for the best historical B&B!”. That will take you to a pop-up window with the list...scroll down to “G. Laurium Manor Inn – Laurium, MI”, click on it, then scroll down and click the “Submit” button. The contest runs until August 14th at Noon ET, so we’ll have a reminder here each day if you’d like to vote. Thanks in advance.

Holy smokes! We got a little over 2"
here. It sure did help the weeds
grow, but everything sure is nice and
green. My husband and I were thinking
about how much snow that would have
been. Yikes!!

Interesting because we
received 4 “ in metro
Detroit last week as
well. But, instead of
saturated fields, we
delt with flooded
highways and roads.
Even Metro-Airport
had to close down
areas due to flooding
issues.
Nice video and I liked
the cup holder at the
far end of the piano
for the pianist’s scotch
and water.
I tried to vote, but there
was no black button.
Probably because I
don’t have a Google
account.

I couldn't get it to work the other day either
Alex, but it worked today!

WOW...that's mud...I'm so glad to hear it cleared
out. And it's growing well. Wow...

Love the vid..and those are beautiful cup holders
on that piano! But they are huge for a cup
holder...so what do you think they really are?
Perhaps that piano was a centerpiece someplace and
those are to hold flower vases or plants??

Good time to pull up the weeds in the garden.
