Kevin Dunham was at it again, out and about in the Munising area capturing night views of the town and several stunning shots of the Full Buck Moon recently. He said he thought it was going to be too cloudy to catch the Full Buck Moon, so he sent up his drone to check and the rest was history. These shots were taken overlooking Munising Bay – Lake Superior. I love how his drone and camera capture all the lights and reflections in the Bay there and then the moon shrouded in mystery it seems. Outstanding shots as usual from Kevin!
The nickname, Buck Moon comes from the seasonal wildlife patterns and folklore, referring to the period when male deer or bucks, begin regrowing their antlers after shedding them earlier in the year. Interesting explanation, stay tuned for next week one day, we’ll be sharing some velvet antlers just beginning to grow now.
Andy Behling, from MI Playground gives us info about the lone White Pine tree on top Chapel Rock in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. He says it’s the most famous tree in Michigan and estimated to be about 250 years old. Check out its root system, pretty amazing!

Didn't we have a huge pine in Bootjack, called "The Lonesome Pine"? I think...I know we had one huge tree out there at one time.
