Donna MacIntosh took advantage of a nice day recently, when she was able to take a stroll around the grounds outside at her apartment complex. She had camera in hand and photographed some of the beautiful flowers growing there, adding color and beauty for residents and visitors alike. I know the first two photos are lilies and I have no idea of their technical name, but the colors are just gorgeous. Same with the third photo, the color is so vivid in those roses, it’s like they’re screaming at you to come closer and stop to smell them.

Next is the white category...Queen Anne’s Lace, which is technically daucus carota and also goes by more common names including wild carrot, bird's nest, bishop's lace and carrot flower. It has a variety of uses, including as a food source, in traditional medicine, and for flavoring in food and beverages. The second white one pictured here today is one I have never heard of, the White Astible. It is a herbaceous perennial, and comes back year after year. They die back to the ground in the fall and then re-emerge with new growth in the spring. Quite unique and pretty! That last photo, an interesting pod, is beyond me what it really is. So please chime in if you know what it could be.

Since the 119th Annual Central Church Reunion is this coming Sunday, July 27th at 9 a.m., I thought it would be a good time to share the Central Mine – Ghost Town of the Keweenaw video from Visit Keweenaw. The lead-in to their video says: “Located in the heart of the Keweenaw Peninsula rests the ghost town of Central Mine. Once a thriving mining community, this quiet place nestled among forests and cliffs provides a window into the epic copper boom of the 19th century.” If you can’t be there in person for the Central Church Reunion, you can watch the live-streamed service via Pasty.NET.

Nice set, Donna! Obviously the folks there care about providing a pleasing landscape to enjoy. Beautiful flowers!

It is pretty here...and there's much more, and some
in areas I'm too wonky to get to....and lots of
hanging baskets, people have plants out on their
balconies...we have flowers here!

I think the pod might be a lily!

Beautiful! I'm always happy to see
you've gotten out with your camera.
Nice job. It sure is beautiful there
in the summer.

I missed a lot of good
pics and videos the
last few days as I was
busy trying to get my
house. My favorites
were the Fritz pics
and videos.
Very nice set today
though with a bouquet
of colors and a nice
video of a place that I
missed. Another would’a,
could’a, should’a.

Hi
Beautiful flower close-ups; I like them a lot more
than I did the bug close-ups last week. Central Mine
looks interesting.
