Jeff Dennis got creative in Lake Linden on the 4th of July, capturing the fireworks bursting above the Torch Lake #3 Steam Engine as it rolls again in Lake Linden. That’s quite a shot and timed perfectly to capture them both lit UP.
The rest of Jeff’s photos are chronicling the recent kayak adventures of Fritz and family all around the Keweenaw. When you explore from the water side of the area, you get to see many places and things that you don’t otherwise view from on land. Fritz starts the tour in Copper Harbor, heads over to Eagle Harbor, smiles on the Sturgeon River, then navigates the waters near White City and on Portage Lake. I tell you, that pup gets around the area more than most of us do, lucky dog!
Back to the Torch Lake #3 Steam Engine in Jeff’s first photo, we take a ride on a different train, the gas powered engine at the Houghton County Historical Society Museum in Lake Linden, with Visit Keweenaw. The lead-in to the video says: ”All aboard for a ride through Copper Country history! While today’s trip at the Houghton County Historical Society features the gas engine, keep an eye (and ear) out for the real showstopper: the fully restored 1915 Calumet & Hecla #3 steam locomotive. Wednesdays & Saturdays | 12 - 4PM (weather permitting) | $6 adults, $4 students, $3 toddlers, infants free Lake Linden, MI.”

LOVE Fritz! He is a very lucky pup. So cool to see
him go under the foot bridge that leads to Duck
Island in Copper Harbor!
