We’ve been doing a bit of exploring lately on the Pasty Cam with Tami Anderson and I’ve been enjoying the places she’s been taking us to. Today she said we’re exploring the backroads of this place we call home, the Keweenaw. There really is abundant beauty surrounding us here UP North and it’s a good thing when we stop to take it all in. Tami found Lupines all around us in these shots and her exploring partner Daisy even snuck in a photo, too!
E. Neil Harri brings us a peaceful video with beautiful sights and sounds. He titled it, “Blue Flags and Bull Rushes in a Keweenaw Swamp.” He sent me a close-up shot of one of the Blue Flag Irises to accompany the video. Stunning video and shot!
Beautiful shots of the homestead and the lupines. The buildings are still standing because someone cared enough to keep good roofs on them. That says a lot!

Nice set! The first one reminds of a scene from the movie; “ Annihilation” starring Natalie Portman. A very strange sci-fi. And I’m not a big flower guy so which one is Daisy? A very nice calming video too!

Beautiful. You can't go wrong with lupine. Cool old shacks, too.

Hi For the first photo, I thought "Good, nature is reclaiming what people have abandoned". Lupines are pretty, I don't recall seeing them downstate.
My grandma used to call iris "flags"; does anyone know where that term came from? They never looked very flag-like to me.

Are these awesome....I was just chatting with someone about finding old homes, foundations, etc..and how you would find such beautiful flowers around them....(and maybe take a few home to transplant)....Swamps are beautiful up here too!
Kathryn..Mr. Harri called them blue flags...I googled it:
Why are irises called flags? This plant is also called Northern Blue Flag, Larger Blue Flag, Harlequin Blueflag, and Wild Iris. The name “flag” is from the middle English word “flagge,” meaning rush or reed. Iris flowers are said to symbolize power, with the three parts representing wisdom, faith and courage.

In nature there is no alienation. EVERYTHING belongs.
Hi Donna, thanks for the information. Who couldn't use more wisdom, faith and courage? I like your quote, too.
Alex, for a contrast, maybe you should watch "Field of Dreams". ;>)
