E. Neil Harri recently captured some great shots of the Coast Guard Buoy Tender, CG Spar as it was setting the buoy for the summer season, in Eagle Harbor. Someone commented that it seemed late to be setting the buoy this year. Another of Neil’s friends then posted this update, explaining the delay: “The Hollyhock in Port Huron got transferred to the USCG Yard in Baltimore for its mid-life refit. The Sequioia, her replacement had a major breakdown before it got to Port Huron and had to be towed to BayShip in Sturgeon Bay for repairs (and is still there). The Spar had to cover for all of their spring buoy work on the lower lakes.” Thankfully, the Coast Guard adjusted and got it done, albeit a bit later than usual. Grateful for their service in keeping boaters safe on the Great Lakes.
We get a look at two of the interpretive signs at the Painesdale Mine and Shaft - Champion#4, compliments of Visit Keweenaw. They had this to say about today’s reel: “Wander the grounds of the historic Painesdale Mine and Shaft Inc. this summer and step into the Keweenaw’s copper story. Guided tours Fridays & Saturdays begin at noon and offer a deeper look at life and labor high above in the Shaft-Rock House and in the surrounding grounds. Featured here are two of the site's interpretive signs - the Welcome Kiosk and Miners Memorial - that help tell the story of the people who powered the Champion #4. These educational signs, including a third focused on the 1913 Strike, were made possible through Visit Keweenaw’s Destination Development Fund.”

Tough day yesterday, we had to put our little Finn down, may he Rest in Peace, we'll miss the little guy, he brought a lot of joy into our hearts every day. I know that he received the best life possible being with our family, though this is difficult at this time.... I can honestly say, I'd do it all over again, he was definitely worth it, I'll miss you pal.

Uncle Chuck, the part of being a pet parent that comes into plan that I am never ready for. Growing up and still living on the farm, saying goodbye to a loved pet is never easy. I cried for weeks when we lost our daughter's 4H-FFA Guernsey cows. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Always love this time of year; “You go buoyeeeeeee!” Lonely video of times gone by. “It’s so quiet in the ruins, walking through the old town.” (C. Stevens) UC… I think Whit may need a new running buddy; a door closes and another one opens up.

Always fun to watch the coast guard out there doing their thing. Summer must be here.
So sorry for your loss, Chuck. They're pay off the family. When I've lost a pet, I grieve for weeks. They're so innocent and loyal. Hugs to you and Vic.
