My hubby and I went on a little get-away, heading to Mackinaw City and then Mackinac Island. We planned our arrival on the Island, to make it in time for Sunday Mass at Ste. Anne’s Church and actually ended up with plenty of time for a Mackinac Island “fast food” breakfast of English Muffin breakfast sandwiches and apples from Doud’s Market, in the park before church. After church we took a walk up Fort St., which is quite steep, checking out the view of the Island down below us. Then we made our way to the cemeteries, including St. Ann’s and the Fort Mackinac Post Cemetery. While there, a horse-drawn Carriage Tour went by, so we heard a bit of the history of the cemeteries. We walked the back-roads of the island, back to town and explored downtown, checking out the hotels, homes and beautiful flowers all around the Island. We headed back to Mackinaw City on the 4:00 ferry, had dinner there and enjoyed live music in the City Center Crossings Mall.
When planning our ferry trip to the Island, we found out that several of the morning runs at Shepler’s Ferry take you up close to the Mackinac Bridge and right under it, too, at no extra charge. That’s our video for today. I was hoping the Captain’s talk about the Bridge would record along with the views of the Bridge, but the sound of the ferry zipping through the water, kind of drowned that out. If you don’t care to hear all that, turn your volume down. It was kind of a highlight of the day for us, to be alongside and under the Bridge, seeing cars going by up above us. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I'm so happy you decided to post these here, Mary. They're wonderful and you can tell what a great time you had. Two great places that we want to get back to. And next time, I'll take the ferry that goes under the bridge too. How fun!

“Ain’t summer just grand!” And Mary has the pics to prove it. Waking up to these gems has made my day. And the video was a delight as well. I was picturing myself in one of those cars crossing the bridge as I’ve done so many times in the past. Well, at least I still have my dreams. Thanks Mary for the cruise!

Wife and I along with daughter and son-in-law enjoyed our stay on Mackinac in 2013, staying at the Market Street Inn, a lovely B&B. I drove from CT to St Ignace in two days (urrgh....never again, I'll fly instead)! Hope to get back there some day.

That was the 50th Anniversary trip. And it looks just awesome. So cool Mary...I wish I could do the Cemetery too....Actually, the whole thing. That's a place I've never been. The pics are beautiful!
