From the shores of Au Train Beach in Alger County, Kevin Dunham captures various lightning strikes overlooking Lake Superior. Lightning bolts from the U.P. skies isn’t anything rare, but capturing that power always impresses me, especially when the strikes are clear and defined like these here today. My favorite is the first shot with the double bolts, one of which is swirled around in a loop... outstanding photography, one and all.

Speaking of outstanding shots... Andrea Guerriero over at DRE Designs – Great Lakes Marine Products captured some great drone footage recently, of the Florence Spirit arriving in Sault Ste. Marie on her way to Thunder Bay. Andrea said she hadn’t seen this ship in a long time and it’s a rare occasion when she comes through town, so she had to get the drone up for this unique video coverage.

I like the composition of the second one, where the
end of the fence and the lightning bolt happen to be
in line. I also like the last one, with the rain
visible in the distance. But the photographer was
skilled to catch all of these.

I was kind of disapointed in the video, which had
music but no narration.

I was watching "Weather Gone Viral" yesterday, and
they had a story about a soccer game being played
when a thunderstorm came up. Lightening struck the
field. One team had on shoes with plastic spikes.
They were ok. The other team had metal spikes and
everyone of them went down. They got "struck"
too...they all eventually were ok..but it took a
little time. Who would even think of what kind of
shoes you wear?? That was wild.

FANTASTIC PIC'S!! Great video as well, I think we
all enjoy seeing anything involving the
Freighter's on the Great Lakes. Looking forward to
seeing them up close and personal very soon.

Sorry, I've been MIA, things have been crazy as we
get into the Summer here. Health is good, New RV
has many new issues that have to be taken care of
before we travel again. I know these things need
continuous maintenance, after all when you're
towing them down the road, it's like they're going
thru an earth wake. Traded up and bought a bigger
one last Wednesday and Friday it had to go back to
the dealer for many repairs and failures. Of
course it did!! lol
