Here in the Keweenaw, we recently had some smoky skies from the fires in Canada and the winds bringing it here to the Copper Country, along with many other U.P. locations. Tami Anderson captured a few shots of the sunset which the smoky air colored an ominous orange orb in the sky. It made for some interesting photographs, that’s for sure! I have no idea why this happens when there is smoke in the air, but for whatever reason, it was pretty neat that Tami was able to capture the intense color that evening as the sun was setting.

We travel to Lake Linden with Visit Keweenaw for a look at the Houghton County Historical Society Museum there. The lead in to the video says: “The museum is overflowing with Copper Country mining relics, intimate family stories and carefullly curated rooms that bring the region’s rich past to life. Every corner holds a piece of history, so come see what shaped the Keweenaw.”

Very cool. I sure didn't care for the
smoke, though. It even smelled inside
the house.

One solution that might
help is that Canadians
switch over to gummies.
Interesting video, but a
little too quick.

What glorious pictures! And that color had to be
hard to get good ones. They are so beautiful!

Love those local vids.

The following photo and story about this 2 year old bear was brought to my attention and I thought it worthwhile to share here as a reminder to folks to dispose of your garbage properly. When you aren't responsible with your garbage, it can do irreparable damage to the wildlife around us. This bear was live trapped in Montmorency County, near Gaylord in Lower Michigan, tranquilized and the DNR personnel then removed the cover from around its neck. They had sightings of him several times in a two year period before actually trapping him to remove it. He lived with that lid around his neck for two years.

Sounds interesting, Mary,
but I don’t see a link.

Mary says: It's there now, Alex. It takes a few minutes to add the link, technical mumbo jumbo that it doesn't work the first time and I have to fiddle with it in the Admin pages to get it to post and work. You like all my technical wording about it here? Ha, ha, ha...

By Donna (Donna) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 - 11:47 am:

Look at that poor baby's neck. I can't tell you how
awful I find this kind of stuff...There is
absolutely no reason for it. Besides people are
ignorant or lazy.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 - 02:50 pm:

This is so sad. That poor baby. So
happy it's free now. People are so
careless.

Thanks, Mary!
And your;
"technical mumbo jumbo“
is just up my alley.
It’s the only thing
that I understand.
