When Beth Jukuri plants a garden, it’s a family affair! They call it their “Family Garden” and everyone pitches in from fencing it in to protect it from critters, to tilling the ground, to planting, then watering, young and old all do their part. And when everything starts growing, up to harvest and preserving, they all are involved to the end. What a great way to spend time as a family and have good organic vegetables and fruits to share. I especially love that the little ones get right in there and learn about growing your own food, too! That’s the best kind of fun and learning. Beth said on this day, a good portion of their garden was planted, but they are waiting to plant the peppers and tomatoes. She said it goes much easier with so many helping hands!
Alexis Dahl says: “I grew up thinking earthworms were always good for plant communities. Turns out, I was wrong. Here's what they're doing to forests in the Upper Midwest.” Check out her video, Michigan Isn’t Supposed to have Earthworms. Turns out they’re good for gardens, like Beth’s family garden, but not so much for forests.

Very cool. That's quite the routine they have there. And wait until they reap the rewards.

How beautiful...that was a huge time with the Grands. We had several gardens and they taught us all so much.
And Grandpa always watered peppers and tomatoes with 3 Tbs epsom salts to 5 gallons of water, for the first time only. The Harvest was insane. They say it's useless, but I know some folks that do this still, and it does work so awesome!
Cool Vid...Alexis is just awesome.

Two green thumbs up to the pics…definitely a labor of love! And an interesting video, although I don’t know if Walt of Walt’s Crawlers would appreciate it too much.
