Recently, Marcy Bessolo Hermanson and her hubby hiked the trail nearby Lake Fanny Hooe and Fort Wilkins on a calm afternoon/evening. They hit it just right, she said, before the bugs came out, for their first picnic of the summer. I’d say they hit it just right with the still waters of Fanny Hooe, also...check out the reflections of the trees in the mirrored water. It’s not that often you capture scenes like this, without a ripple in the water at all. They did find some ripples in the Fanny Hooe Creek, though, as it was making its way to Lake Superior. Also where Marcy spotted the freighter out there on the Big Lake. Let’s play “name that freighter”, since I have no clue which one it might be out there. Bragging rights to the first one to identify it!
Here in the U.P. the sky puts on quite a show. If you’re a star gazer and even if you’re not, I think you’ll enjoy today’s video from The Secrets of the Universe. We get a crash course on “Everything You’ll See in the Night Sky in June 2025. It’s a Stunning Month”. A sort of Astronomy Calendar for June must watch events!

What beautiful pictures. Marcy always
seems to be in the right place at the
right time. And knowing Marcy, she
probably knows what ship that is, too.
