Back in March, the City of Houghton Beautification Committee held a “Community Fish Painting Party” event and it was reported that it went “Swimmingly” well. The folks who joined in painted wooden fish that would eventually adorn the Houghton City Waterfront. Today’s photos from Beth Jukuri show off some of those painted fish that have begun to be hung along the waterfront walkways. What a fun project to bring color and smiles to folks that are enjoying the waterfront in the City of Houghton. Beth told me that she and a few others joined in the painting party and then the WIND (Women In New Directions) ladies also painted a few that were left unpainted after the event in March. Art on the Waterfront...so much creativity surrounds us!

Peak views, past lives, Quincy Mine is a peak hilltop stop on any Copper Country Trail National Byway scenic tour. The ruins rule and history hits different in the summer sun. Went for a cruise w/Cindy yesterday. It was a
perfect day. I did take pics, but something
happened and they all disappeared. Bummer.

We saw these fish...and it does look so awesome!
We found where some of the Tech Webcams are.
There's a little park across the canal from Mt.
Ripley and checking the cams..there's guys fishing
there, kids sunbathing and swimming, they have
cornhole games set up, and it's a really nice lil
park.

Great day out. Just wish the pics woulda hung
around.

Anniversary of D Day.

I cherish the memories of a question my grandson
asked me the other day when he said, ‘Grandpa, were
you a hero in the war?’ Grandpa said, ‘No, but I
served in a company of heroes.'

Company" of the 506th Infantry Regiment within the
101st Airborne Division (1918-2011)

Very nice pictures. The waterfront of
Houghton is so very nice.

First thing I thought of this morning
was D-Day. Bless those brave men who
fought on that awful day.

Very nice set, but
the first thing I thought
of was Snow when
I saw the white pics
and I thought; No way!
Donna; thanks for the
D-Day reminder. There
was nothing mentioned
on the news this
morning. I’ll be watching
“Saving Private Ryan”
tonight which I do
every year on D-Day.
