Judy Byykkonen spent a few days visiting her daughter in Marquette, for a nice little get-away. Lucky for us, she always brings her camera along and snaps scenes to share. Lake Superior is beautiful no matter what shore you’re on, but it always amazes me how different it looks from different locales. The Big Lake draws you in no matter if it’s wavy or calm, as there are so many different moods she displays, depending on what is happening with the weather. Judy’s daughter lives along the Lower Harbor there in Marquette so they are able to enjoy Superior, Marquette and surroundings. I like the bottom shot of the old Ore Dock there, along with the breakwall and light at the end of it, peeking out from behind the dock. It embodies much of the harbor there.
Shannon over at 906 Images recorded a video of a kayaker on a wavy Lake Superior, from a different day. He titled it: Good day for a Lake Superior Kayak!! I think he was saying that with ‘tongue in cheek’, since the week before this video, we had temps in the 70’s and 80’s, but on this day, there was actually snow falling...yes, in May, but thankfully no accumulations!

Nice set, Judy! It’s nice to see it coming back to life. I don’t know what to say about the video; Xtreme kayaking maybe???

Beautiful! I especially like the 3rd and 4th pictures. The lake is never boring.

"If there is poetry in my book about the sea, it is not because I deliberately put it there, but because no one could write truthfully about the sea and leave out the poetry."
Hi The third photo is my favorite. With my little kayak & my low level skills, no way I'd go out kayaking in those conditions.
Donna, I like your Rachael Carson quote.
