It’s not often that I’m up at the crack of dawn to see the sky turn from dark to the beginnings of the sun coming UP over the horizon. If it’s the same for you, then today’s pre-sunrise photos overlooking Munising Bay are a treat for you, also. Kevin Dunham was UP and at ‘em bright and early for these shots. He said they were taken between 4:20 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. recently. The still dark photos with the city lights really caught my eye and then the progression of colors on the horizon are absolutely beautiful. How lucky we are that we can still see it all, while still catching “some Z’s”.

We’re going kayaking at the Pictured Rocks today, with Joe Geronimo “Adirondack Joe”, who said in the lead-in to the video: “One of our bucket list items was to kayak Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior. We mostly paddle flat water lakes and ponds here in New York and the Adirondack Park. Lake Superior is an entirely different animal! We had decided to book a tour with "Pictured Rocks Kayaking" out of Munising, MI. Pictured Rocks Kayaking takes you about 40 minutes out on Lake Superior via their custom boat where you launch from. We were broken into groups of twelve and each group had a guide, there were 4 groups this day.”

USA Today is running a contest – 10 Best and Hunter’s Point in Copper Harbor is in the running for the Best Beach in Michigan. You can vote once per day until voting ends on Monday, May 19th at noon ET. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 28th. Click here to vote: Vote for Hunter’s Point

Nature’s paintbrush that
almost equals the
Northern Lights in visual
Splendor and is, well…
Enlightening
And the video looks
fantastic, but I’ll have
to enjoy it later. !

Outstanding! And it must be a "dark sky"
area...look at the stars! How gorgeous. I used to
be able to go out and do sunrises....oh the ages
ago...but that is such a sacred time....Just you
and the Universe. What beauty. Way to go Kevin!

Omgosh, these are stunning. Kevin
comes through again. Thanks for
letting me sleep, Kevin.

Hi
The second photo is my favorite.

The kayak tour--where they start by gving the
kayakers a boat ride out to the interesting
sections--looks great. But when “Adirondack Joe” &
his companion paddled within touching distance of
the cliffs, I couldn't help thinking of when part of
Miner's Castle dropped into the lake. If I ever get
back up there, I think I'll stick to the regular
boat ride.

Absolutely fantastic photos and video!! Munising
is such a cool little town, with plenty to do
there of course and really great restaurants and
food trucks!! Some of the best fresh fish is made
right there roadside, I believe the place is
called, Captain Ron's but I'm not positive, I just
know it's almost on the way out of town climbing
the hill to Marquette and just before the Holiday
Inn Express. Muldoon's also serves a very good
pasty too. So fill up there or in Christmas at
Foggy's for a great steak and then walk across M28
and make your donation at the Kewadin ••••••!! If
you look closely, many of the bricks in that place
have my name on them thru the years! :=))

I somehow deleted a couple of sentences, I can't
pic a favorite pic, they're all equally great and
the video is so cool and brings back plenty of
memories of being out there with our boats and jet
ski's as well. Going under some of those
formations gave me the willies at times, I just
knew if they were going to collapse into the lake,
it would be when I was under there!! lol

Munising has definite potential for our retirement
home, Vic and I really like the area and on the
plus side, it's within 50 miles of great
healthcare in Marquette for yours truly. lol

Great choice Kathryn!! I guess if I had to pick one
it would be the fifth one, amazing colors!! SHEESH,
I CAN HEAR THE STELL BELTS CALLING MY NAME!!
