Debbie Jarve took a road trip to Ten Foot Falls recently, with her daughter-in-law and grandkids. She knew it would be just about perfect with all the snow melt and a few rainy days earlier. The water was rushing and pouring over the rocks there. Later in the season, you can walk out on those rocks to the middle of the river there and folks jump off the rocks into a pool of water, but this time of year the rocks are submerged under the rapidly running water. Pretty amazing how different it looks from season to season.

We join Alexis Dahl for a lesson about an 11,000-year-old forest that was accidentally found...twice! The lead-in to her video says: “Sometimes, all the details line up just right to make an incredible story. It just took these dominoes some 10,000 years to line up. This is the story of the Gribben Basin buried forest outside of Marquette, Michigan. Key sources Alexis used to research this video: Interviews with Drs. Glenn Mroz, David Reed, and Ted Bornhorst and their paper about the Gribben Basin buried forest.”

USA Today is running a contest – 10 Best and Hunter’s Point in Copper Harbor is in the running for the Best Beach in Michigan. You can vote once per day until voting ends on Monday, May 19th at noon ET. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 28th. Click here to vote: Vote for Hunter’s Point

I love 10 foot falls. I could sit on
those rocks and just watch and listen.
These pictures brought me there.

HOLY SMOKES THESE PICS ARE TERIFFIC!! I'm with Deb,
you just took us all there, and I could bring my
camping chair and sit there for hours as well.

I'll have to check the video later.

Have a great week Pasty Fam!!

Very nice pix, Debbie
and bless you for
spending time with
your family and sharing
the beauty of nature
with them.
It reminds me of a
Bible verse that I
meant to share on
Mother’s Day;
“A wife of noble
character who can find?
She is worth far more
than rubies.
Her husband has full
confidence in her
and lacks nothing
of value.
She brings him good,
not harm, all the days
of her life….
…Her children arise
and call her blessed;
her husband also,
and he praises her;
Many women do noble
things, but you surpass
them all. “
(Proverbs 31)

Easier said than done, UC. When you
can't take the strong pain pills, it's
harder to push as far as I'd like to.
I do what I can with the pain pills my
body can tolerate.

Hi
As to the pictures, the bright sun & rushing water
are beautiful & really lift your spirits.

The video was fascinating. I hope they keep
researching the tree sections they took home
(paleo logger, cute).

DebS, I don't know your specfics. But I hope you
can summon the stubborness to do what you can
within your limitations. My sister-in-law has used
massage to make her painfully arthritic ankles
feel better temporarily.

UC, hope you are doing well.

Sweet pics. Although that young lad (did I guess right?) looks to be in more potential danger than I care to think about.

I wish I could drop everything and head UP.

It's been too long since I've been there in the Spring. Probably too late this year.

No time for movies tonight. Had to bookmark it. I'm on my way to babysit my 2 year old grandson, since his Mom is laid up with a broken leg.

Heal up EVERYONE!.
