Judy Byykkonen spent a recent afternoon on the shores at Calumet Waterworks Park/Bucky’s. She noted that the ice has either melted and/or gone out into Lake Superior, except for some remaining on the rocks along the shore. The other thing Judy noticed is the erosion happening on the shore there. She said there is always a spring creek near the main stairs that come down to the beach, but she has never seen the erosion in her photos, at the northeast end. It’s not clear where the water is originating from, but appears to be coming from an underground source. Unusual to say the least.
This episode from Discover the U.P., is one that was featured a few years ago, with Dr. Phil Barry, in the Copper Harbor area, collecting sap to make maple syrup. His is a one-man operation that produces syrup for his family and friends.

Beautiful pictures! But I'm hoping we're finished with this ice. Enough already!!

Those pics are stunning...I love when it's melting and you get all kinds of good stuff...and Judy got the drip off the ice..how cool is that!
And I LOVE Discovering. I'm at the tv, ringside for that every week.

"Each and every one of you has the power, the will, and the capacity to make a difference in the world in which you live."
If you could zoom WAY in on that water droplet, you would see an inverted image of Judy B.
BTW, those are two good attributes, "will" & "capacity".
